Mystery Picture Games

Practice words, letters or math with these fun mystery picture digital worksheets. Choose a word in the color legend and then touch all of the matching words to reveal part of the mystery picture. If the word list has pictures, you can choose to show the pictures in the legend or on the grid or only show words.

This game requires that you choose a word list to play in the game. To search for word lists, click on Play in the menu bar at the top of the screen and then choose Word List from the Filter drop down.

Special Case Math Word Lists

A word list doesn't always have to contain a word. It can be a list of simple math questions like 3+5 for example where the answer is a picture of the number 8. Using a word list in this way allows you to play math questions in the games that only work with word lists like the Mystery Pictures and Memory Matching games for example. Below is an example of a word list with math questions.

Fun Ways to Play

Whole Class

If you have an interactive whiteboard in your classroom, this game makes for a fun, whole class  review session. First choose the words that you would like to review from the Choose Questions page. Then project the game onto your whiteboard. Have students come up one at a time to choose a color and then match some of the squares that have the word from the color legend.

Assign this game to students and they will be able to play it independently on devices in centers. Students can play on their own or they can take turns in pairs. To learn how to set up games for centers, please read the article entitled How to Setup Games for Students to Access in Class.

Small Groups

At your group table, you could use a laptop or tablet to play the game collaboratively with your group. If you have an interactive whiteboard, playing the game on your board will be very engaging for your students.

Therapy & Interventions

This game is a great tool to help keep your students motivated and engaged during your therapy sessions or interventions. It is a great way to get many trials in for your target words.
